Marriage Still Works… When Commitment Is Unshakable

MARRIAGE STILL WORKS DEVOTIONAL.

Day 10: MARRIAGE STILL WORKS…WHEN COMMITMENT IS UNSHAKABLE.

Key Scripture:
“What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” — Matthew 19:6
(Commitment preserves what God has joined.)

DEVOTIONAL INSIGHT.
Commitment is the backbone of every lasting marriage.
Feelings may rise and fall. Circumstances may change. Challenges will come. But commitment is what keeps a couple anchored through it all.

Unshakable commitment says:
• “We will work through this.”
• “We are not giving up on each other.”
• “Our relationship is worth fighting for.”

Many marriages struggle not because love is absent, but because commitment is weak. When commitment is based on convenience, it becomes unreliable. But when it is rooted in conviction, it becomes strong.

Commitment provides:
• Security (your spouse feels safe with you)
• Stability (the relationship is not easily shaken)
• Endurance (challenges are faced, not avoided)

It shifts the focus from escape to resolution.

True commitment does not deny difficulties, it confronts them with determination. It refuses to let temporary issues destroy a permanent decision.

Marriage requires effort, patience, and sacrifice. But commitment ensures that those efforts are sustained.

REAL LIFE REFLECTION.
A couple went through a particularly difficult season filled with misunderstandings and emotional distance. At several points, they both felt like giving up.
However, they made a conscious decision, that they would not walk away.
Instead, they sought counsel, prayed together, and worked through their differences step by step.
It was not easy, and progress was gradual. But over time, things began to improve.
Looking back, they realized something important: their breakthrough did not come from a sudden change in circumstances, but from a firm decision to remain committed.

ACTION POINT (Love in Practice)
Today:
Reaffirm your commitment to your spouse through words or a meaningful action.
Let your spouse feel secure in your decision to stay.

TALK ABOUT IT TOGETHER.
What practical steps can we take to strengthen our commitment to each other?

PRAYER.
Father, strengthen our commitment to one another. Help us to remain steadfast in every season and to build a marriage that endures. Give us the grace to stay, grow, and overcome together, in Jesus’ name.

CLOSING TRUTH.
Marriage still works…when commitment is unshakable.
