Marriage Still Works… When Purpose Guides It

MARRIAGE STILL WORKS DEVOTIONAL.

Day 9: Marriage Still Works… When Purpose Guides It

Key Scripture:
“Be ye fruitful, and multiply…” — Genesis 1:28
(Marriage is designed for purpose and impact.)

DEVOTIONAL INSIGHT.
Marriage is more than a relationship, it is a divine assignment.
When purpose is absent, marriage can become routine, predictable, and sometimes frustrating. Couples may find themselves busy but not fulfilled, active but not aligned.
Purpose gives marriage direction, meaning, and focus.
A purpose-driven marriage goes beyond:
• Living together
• Meeting daily needs
• Fulfilling responsibilities
It seeks to answer deeper questions:
• What are we building together?
• How can we support each other’s destiny?
• What impact should our marriage have?
When purpose is understood, it brings alignment. Decisions become easier because they are guided by a shared vision. Conflicts reduce because both partners are working toward something bigger than themselves.
Purpose also strengthens commitment. When you know your marriage is meant to accomplish something significant, you are less likely to treat it casually.
Without purpose, distractions easily take over. But with purpose, focus is maintained.
Your marriage was not designed just to exist, it was designed to make impact.

Real-Life Reflection
A couple found themselves frequently arguing over priorities. One focused on career advancement, while the other emphasized family and spiritual growth.
Their differences created tension and misunderstanding.
One day, they paused and asked a simple but powerful question:
“What do we want our marriage to achieve?”
That question shifted their perspective.
They began to discuss their shared vision, raising a peaceful home, supporting each other’s growth, and building a legacy of faith.

With this clarity, adjustments became easier. Compromises felt meaningful, not forced.

Their disagreements reduced—not because they became identical, but because they became aligned.

ACTION POINT. (Love in Practice)

Today:
• Discuss one shared goal or vision for your marriage
Let purpose guide your decisions.

TALK ABOUT IT TOGETHER.
What kind of impact do we want our marriage to have on our family and others?

PRAYER.
Father, reveal the purpose of our marriage. Help us to move beyond routine and build with intention. Align our hearts and guide our decisions so that our union fulfills Your plan, in Jesus’ name.

CLOSING TRUTH.
Marriage still works…when purpose gives it direction and meaning.
