MARRIAGE STILL WORKS DEVOTIONAL.
Day 25:
MARRIAGE STILL WORKS…WHEN GRATITUDE BECOMES A LIFESTYLE.
Key Scripture:
“In every thing give thanks…” — 1Thessalonians 5:18
(Gratitude shifts focus and strengthens relationships.)
DEVOTIONAL INSIGHT.
Gratitude is a powerful force that transforms the atmosphere of a marriage.
It is easy to focus on what is lacking, what is not working, or what needs improvement. However, when attention is constantly placed on negatives, dissatisfaction grows.
Gratitude shifts focus from:
• What is missing
To
• What is present and valuable
When gratitude is absent:
• Complaints increase
• Appreciation decreases
• Joy diminishes
But when gratitude is practiced:
• Contentment grows
• Joy increases
• Relationships strengthen
Gratitude is not just about saying “thank you” it is a mindset.
It involves:
• Recognizing your spouse’s efforts
• Valuing what you have
• Expressing appreciation consistently
A grateful heart creates a positive atmosphere that strengthens emotional connection.
REAL LIFE REFLECTION.
A husband often focused on what his wife was not doing, rarely acknowledging what she did.
Over time, this created tension.
He later made a deliberate decision to shift his focus. He began to notice and appreciate even small efforts.
The atmosphere changed. His wife felt valued, and their relationship improved.
Gratitude transformed their home.
ACTION POINT. (Love in Practice)
Today:
• Express appreciation for at least three things your spouse does
Practice gratitude intentionally.
TALK ABOUT IT TOGETHER.
How can we build a culture of gratitude in our marriage?
PRAYER.
Father, help us to cultivate a heart of gratitude. Teach us to appreciate one another and to focus on the good in our marriage, in Jesus’ name.
CLOSING TRUTH.
Marriage still works…when gratitude becomes a lifestyle.
