ABIDING GRACE DEVOTIONALS.
Dr. Mike Oluniyi.
Luke 22:31-32
“And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren”
Our reference scripture for today was a statement made to Peter by our Lord Jesus Christ. In it he was told that satan desired to have him so that he might sift him as wheat. Whenever I read that scripture, what comes to my mind is when women are sifting yam flour in my country. When that is being done, the fine particles would scatter in all directions; into the bowl, on the floor, and even on the face of the person that is sifting. So that is what the devil wants to do with the life of every child of God.
It is surprising to me that what Jesus said next was that He had prayed for Peter that his faith should not fail. In other words, your faith is vital against the onslaughts of the devil. It means that when your faith fails, anything can happen to you. In the journey of life, the devil may try anything, but the sustenance of your faith is so vital. When your faith fails, the devil can scatter your life in all directions. When you see someone that committed suicide, it was because his faith failed. When your faith fails, anything can happen, because you would have believed the lie of the devil that nothing good can ever come from the difficult situation you are facing.
The challenge for you today is that whatever comes along in life, you must never allow your faith to fail, because it will be an opportunity for the devil to do what he knows how to do best; steal, kill and destroy…(Jn. 10:10)
Your faith will never fail in Jesus name.
MARRIAGE FOCUS.
The challenge for you concerning your marriage today is that there is no situation that is so difficult that God cannot handle. Is it in your own life or that of your spouse or children, God turn any situation around. In fact He will do something, if you don’t allow your faith to fail. But I want you to look inwards in your family to see if you are doing things that will grow your faith; activities like studying the scriptures together, fellowship in with others, praying and believing God together. It is well with your home in Jesus name.
