ON THE LAP OF DELILAH, THERE IS BLINDNESS AND CAPTIVITY.
Judges 16:21
‘But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house’
Before the birth of Samson, it had been prophesied that he would possess extraordinary powers to begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines. (Jud.3:5). Indeed he was born with such powers. However, Samson appeared to forget the anointing upon his life and started doing things that someone on assignment for God should not do. Like going after strange women and straying into enemy territory.
Delilah who was the source of his downfall, as it was through her that the lords of Philistine were able to remove his eyes and got him arrested. The potentially great Samson lost his eyes, he was bound and he had to labour in the prison of the Philistines. It is the same way that many potential great men and women who are called by God are losing their vision, authority, their liberty and are engaging in vain labour in the prison of the enemy.
What will be your own story? Will you be able to use your potential for God or you will allow it to end on the laps of a strange woman or vain man? Some people argue that the hair of Samson grew and he eventually killed more Philistines at his death than when alive. They believe that he eventually fulfilled his vision. However, I don’t want my own story to end like of Samson. I will rather like to be able to say like Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4:7;
‘I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith:..’
May your testimony be like that of Paul in Jesus name.
MARRIAGE FOCUS.
Together with your spouse, discuss the vision that God has given you either individually or as a couple. What is the progress you have made in actualizing it? Discuss the fact that going out of the will of God through adultery can prevent you from attaining the vision.
