YOUR SPOUSE WILL EXPAND YOUR TERRITORY.

Judges 1:15
‘So she said to him, “Give me a blessing; since you have given me land in the South, give me also springs of water.”
And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.’

Caleb threw a challenge to see who would conquer a territory for him, and Othniel did so. Then, he was given as wife Achsah Caleb’s daughter. The scripture above was what happened when she was going to join her husband, she asked her father to give her springs of water in addition to the the land that she had already been given. In other words, she became a source of blessing in the life of her husband.

Your spouse is designed to be a blessing in your life. God looked at Adam after creation and said concerning him:

Genesis 2:18
‘…It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”

God provided your spouse to be a helper for your life. In your own case it most likely may not be physical land, but a careful look at your life will reveal in one way or the other, that your wife or husband has been a blessing to you, the way land and springs of water were in the life of Othniel. Often, several factors may make you not to appreciate what God has added to your life through your spouse. Offenses may make you to forget the way your spouse has been a blessing. Comparing him or her to another person’s spouse may prevent you from recognizing it in your own life as well as several other preventive factors.

However, it is when you recognize the value of your spouse that he or she will be able to do more in your life and you will be able to appreciate God for your spouse.

You should also ask yourself what you’ve added and what you are currently adding to your home. For those that are yet to marry, you need to look at yourself and ask what you are bringing into your marriage. You must add something to that home, what is that special attribute that will be a blessing to your spouse.

May God make you a help in the life of your spouse in the name of Jesus Christ.
