STOP COMPLAINING!

John 5:6-7
‘…He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

When Jesus arrived at the pool of Bethesda, there were a lot of impotent folks there. Looking round He focused on this man and asked him if he wanted to be made whole, which is a very simple question. However, the impotent man began a story of how he had been helpless with no man to put him into the water when stirred for healing by angels. He would have missed his appointed time for healing that day because instead of being focused on the source of healing right in front of him, he was busy complaining.

Many of us are like that impotent man. We are all the time complaining about an uncle, parents or friends who should have helped us but did not. Most us fail to understand that even the man that we are looking up to for help also needs help. We also fail to realize that it is the help of God that can sustain us in the race of life. The book of Jeremiah 17:5 says:

‘Thus says the LORD:
“Cursed is the man who trusts in man
And makes flesh his strength,
Whose heart departs from the LORD.’

The challenge for us today is to stop complaining and change our focus from the expectation of the help of man to focusing on God. When God decides to help you, he may send a man to you who will represent Him in helping you. If you rely on man, you will often be disappointed because no man can receive anything except it is given him from above (Jn.3:27) One other fact is that just like that man almost did, if you are busy complaining about those that has not helped you, you may miss the help of God.

May you not miss the help of God in Jesus name.

FAMILY FOCUS.
One of the most important ingredients of a successful marriage is Trust. However, you must not so much place your trust in your spouse higher above the one you have in God, because it is only God who will never disappoint you. As much as you may love, you are bound to offend one another in the journey of this marriage, if the trust is higher than that of God, the disappointment may be too devastating for you to bear. It may also make it too difficult for you to forgive your spouse.
You must also train your children to place their absolute trust in God, because it is only He, that is constant.

May your trust in the reliability of God never waiver in Jesus name.
