Psalms 125:3
‘For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous;…’

The reference scripture for today is talking to us about the special position of the righteous. There are certain ugly things that may happen to the wicked but God will not allow to happen to the righteous, except when being tested. The righteous here refers to those who have given their lives to Christ and are walking in His will.
We must however be conscious of two situations in which the righteous may experience the lot of the unrighteous; Inherited curses and when deliberately you go into sin. Read the following scriptures;
Exodus 20:5
…for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Ecclesiastes 10:8
He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it;
and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.

There are a lot situations in life in which the righteous may be experiencing the lot of the wicked due to any of the two situations above. However, even in such situations, the righteous, after realizing the situation in which he has found himself may do self deliverance with the following scripture among others in mind;

Isaiah 49:24-25
‘Shall the prey be taken from the mighty,
or the lawful captive delivered?
But thus saith the LORD,
Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away,
and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered:
for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee,…’

In other words, the promise in our reference scripture is still true even if you discover that you are in a situation in which you are not supposed to be. Watch and pray, that is what Jesus says, so that the Holy Spirit may direct you as to the direction of your prayers, so that you may pray right.

You will not pray amiss in Jesus name.

FAMILY FOCUS.
As parents, we must do everything possible to ensure that we are sowing good seeds that our children may reap from in the future. There are a lot of people out there that may be reaping from what their parents or grandparents sowed. As children, you should also be careful so that you don’t make yourselves lawful captives through the actions you take in life.

May we be able to position ourselves appropriately for the fulfillment of God’s promises in Jesus name.
