MAKING A MARK FOR GOD WILL COST YOU SOMETHING.
Genesis 22:2
‘And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. ‘
Everyone who made a mark for God needed to sacrifice for Him. In fact, if there is nothing that your walk with God has cost you, there is something wrong somewhere. In the case above, it was not the first time that Abraham would be asked to sacrifice something, but at this time, he was asked for something very dear, his son which he had waited for so long to have. Pause and ask yourself if there is anything that should really be too much to give to God.
John 3:16
‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.’
What is it that God is asking you to give up in order to serve Him better this year? Is it your time, or money, your convenience, a position etc. One thing about God is that what you get back in return is always more than what you gave to him. For Abraham what He got back was:
Genesis 22:17-18
‘That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.’
When God called me. He asked me to throw away something that was then dear to me, but I thank God that what He has given me in return in ministry can not be compared with what I had to give up.
Go ahead and sacrifice that which you to sacrifice for God, you can be sure that you will get multiples in return spiritually and materially.
FAMILY FOCUS.
There is need for every member of your family to know that serving God always cost something. Demonstrate it my being ready to give up anything that is competing writhing the will of God in your life. Such example may be very useful for you as you all work towards the perfect will of God in your lives.
May you be wise to submit what God is asking you to give up, so that you will have testimony that God does not owe anyone in Jesus name.
