QUESTION
A man was looking for something under his chair and to his greatest shock discovered the naked picture of his wife and a man. What would be your counsel to him; tell the whole world, beat the hell out of her or divorce her?
ANSWER.
Although you have found yourself in a very difficult situation, you will really still have to control yourself so that you will not overreact and do something to be regretted later. Men have been known to kill and do other stupid things in situations such as this.
Publicizing it to the whole world may not be the solution because among other consequences, her children may not forgive you in the future.
Beating her may not be the solution because you won’t have solved any problem by doing that.
On the issue of divorce, it all depends on her brokenness and readiness to turn a new leaf in addition to your own depth in God. Two scriptures may be useful for you:
‘Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:’ (Eph.4:26)
‘For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.'(Matt.6:14&15)
Despite the situation, let the above scriptures guide you. Many will hail you if you kill or take some extreme actions because of what happened but remember that there is nothing that happens to you which has never happened in another home.
